Open qualifiers leading to a regional group stage will start this month.

DotaPit’s fifth iteration will be featuring two direct invites and six qualifier teams that will be battling it out in the playoffs on January 21-22, 2017 for an initial $125,000 prize pool that will be further augmented by in-game ticket sales (25% of sales contribute to the prize pool) and item sets from the Dota Pit League Season 5 tournament chest (10% of sales contribute to the prize pool).

Schedules for the open qualifiers leading up to a regional group stage have not yet been released, but they are set for this October. There will be six regional groups and 2 slots will be reserved for EU, while the CIS, SEA, CN and NA will be getting one slot each. The group stage will be played in a double-elimination format, and each slot winner qualifies to the playoffs in January with a venue yet to be announced.

It’s another tournament to add to the jam-packed Fall Season, and with the Major announced for this December, doing well in the group stages and putting up convincing showings in prior tournaments might be crucial to secure Valve’s direct invites to The Boston Major. DotaPit’s playoffs will also be 2017’s second premier LAN event – coming only a week after ESL One Genting.
