12 teams will battle it out in one of the most prestigious tournaments to be hosted in the East.

After skipping the year 2016, DAC, or Dota 2 Asia Championships, will be returning as one of the biggest tournaments to be held in an Eastern region this year – it was announced during the “Perfect Ceremony 2016” last December, and the four direct invites were announced recently.

The direct invites are unsurprising: OG, who won the recent Boston Major, Wings Gaming who won The International 6 and is still one of the strongest Chinese teams, Evil Geniuses another strong contender from the West, and Newbee – possibly the best Chinese team at the moment if recent results are taken into account.
They will be joined by 4 teams from the Asia qualifiers, and one team each for the Americas, SEA, Europe and CIS Qualifiers, making 12 teams in total. The LAN playoffs is set for April 1-4, 2017 in Shanghai, China. Perfect World, the organizers of the tournament, have yet to announce prize pool details and qualifier schedules (Chinese qualifiers will be on January 13-15).
