The representatives of the Philippines will be going to the APAC Qualifiers for a chance to go all the way to the Main Stage of ROG Masters.
Mineski bagged Php75,000 (~$2,500) after winning in the recently concluded Philippine Qualifier of the ROG Masters tournament, sweeping their opponents in the CSGO Finals - Rekt Esports. During the Semi-Finals, Rekt had eliminated Wargods while Mineski took down fRactals. Rekt went home with Php10,000 (~$2,000) while the teams that dropped out of the semis came out of the tournament with Php5,000 (~$100) in hand.
Meanwhile, the Dota2 tournament saw Execration, Happy Feet, Entity Gaming and Imperium Pro Team battle it out for the grand prize of Php125,000 (~$2,500). On the first day of the two-day event held at SM North Edsa Cyberzone last Saturday to Sunday, Entity Gaming defeated Happy Feet 2-0, taking them one step closer to the grand prize. Meanwhile, Execration and Imperium faced each other only on the second day, mere hours before the Grand Finals. But it would turn out that Entity Gaming’s one-day rest advantage wouldn’t trump Execration, as Execration turned around a losing battle in their third match of their Bo3 into their favor. Thanks to Bimbo‘s heroics, Execration pulled itself together and defeated Entity, 2-1.
Exexcration have used their new roster in this tournament, sporting a returning Gabbi who had just replaced Nando from the team’s ranks. Gabbi had been away from Execration during his brief stay with Clutch Gamers.
The APAC Qualifiers for both CSGO and Dota2 will be held later on this year, with the winners eventually competing in the tournament’s Grand Finals, where a top prize of $250,000 (~Php5,000) will be awarded to the victors. Last year, Execration fell short in achieving their goal when they lost against Team Secret in the Grand Finals, but the team looks ready to finally take it home this year.
