Valve events don’t have a monopoly in Dota 2 tournaments, and the Asia Pro League starts October off with one of the biggest yet this season.

Almost a million in prizes

The Chinese event boasts a total of ¥ 250,000 in prizes, with the top dogs earning almost a million pesos. The top prize amounts to ¥ 120,000, or about 945,500. Asia pro League invited 14 teams in China and Southeast Asia to compete in this tournament, including TNC Predator.

Asia’s best and brightest

The tournament doesn’t only feature some of the best teams in Asia, but also the brightest upcoming stars in the region. Longtime brands like Invictus Gaming, EHOME, Keen Gaming, CDEC Gaming, TNC and Execration will be competing in this two-week tournament. Up-and-comers like Sterling Global Dragons, Alpha Red, Neon Esports, and other junior teams from China will be competing in the tournament as well.

Format

The tournament started today with two 7-team groups. Teams will fight in Bo2 Round Robins. The top two teams from each group will advance to the upper bracket of the playoffs. The third and fourth placers will go to the lower bracket. The rest of the teams are eliminated. The eight teams advancing to the playoffs will fight through a Bo3 Double Elimination Bracket. The Bo5 Grand Finals will then decide the Grand Champions.
